SHEP SNOW
FOUNDER
Shep Snow is a USSA Certified Alpine Racing Coach, with 31 years of experience. He began racing at age 10 in the NEASA while growing up in New York and continued through High School. Vietnam and the Army intervened and he raced nothing but NASTAR until 1989 when he was selected to the US Army and DOD ski teams. He represented the USA at the CIEM international competition in Argentina in 1989. Shep coached alpine ski racers in the 1980's at Black Rapids, Alaska, then stopped coaching until Scott and Bonnie came along. He has been the director of the Independence Racing Team since its creation in 1998.

Shep stepped down as Director in 2024 after 25 years of dedicated service to the team. His legacy and mission remain at the heart of the Indy program, and he continues to be active with racers and the greater ski community.
Shep anticipates moving into a new role as race grandparent at some point in the near future!
KAREN BRENNER
DIRECTOR
2024/2025 is Karen's 15th year coaching with team Indy. After waiting until 40 to begin her skiing career, Karen is now enthusiastically making up for lost time. As a dedicated student and coach of this great sport, Karen enjoys sharing her enthusiasm for skiing and ski racing with the racers she coaches. For Karen, nothing beats helping the racers progress and tackle tough challenges on the race course, in deep powder, or down steep chutes.
